Thank you for your email of 6 February 2023 regarding the intersection of Boldrewood Parade and Broadway in Reservoir.

Road safety is a priority for the Victorian Government. The 2022–23 State Budget includes $263 million to continue to deliver Victoria’s 2021–2030 Road Safety Strategy and the first three-year Road Safety Action Plan.

Understanding the experiences of our community is critical to having a safe and efficient transport network with options for people to move around.

In December 2021, the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) engaged with key transport partners, including Darebin City Council, to explore problems and identify potential improvements at the intersection. Subsequent investigations have identified a range of interventions of varying scales. A number of these road safety treatments will be installed before the end of July 2023. They include sign and line marking improvements and a reduced speed limit through the intersection.

More complex solutions will be included for funding consideration in future programs under a statewide context.

DTP will continue to work with its key transport partners, including your Council, and use feedback in its ongoing monitoring of the network to help prioritise future safety investigations and improvements.

Thank you for raising this matter.
